Zante proposes numerous
interesting excursions. Here are the most popular ones. -
The Navagio beach (Shipwreck):
This wonderful place is the most popular excursions on the island
of Zante. It is one of the most photographed beaches of the island
and of the entire Greece and offers an unimaginable beauty that
can not be described. The beach is located in a sheltered bay and
is characterised by the remains of a ship that wrecked there and
looked as if it was emerging from the fine white volcanic sand.
The colour of the water in the Navagio Beach is a pure marvel; it
is of an extreme emerald and, even at its deeper place, the sea
is so crystalline and clean the visibility is extending until the
bottom of it. To finish the dream-like scenery, huge white rocky
formations are surrounding the whole place, creating a beautiful
and dramatic

-The
beaches of the area of Vassilikos:
Vassilikos is situated in the southeast of the island and has several
beautiful beaches to offer to the visitors such as Porto Zoro, Banana
Beach, Agios Nikolaos, Porto Roma and Gerakas. Gerakas must be the
most beautiful beach of the area. It is an area subject to the national
and international legislation in order to protect the sea turtle
Caretta-Caretta and for that reason the beach is empty of tourist
facilities. It is a long beach which kept all its natural beauty.
The bay is characterised by an impressive rock formation.
- The
Church of Agia Mavra:
This fine 14th century church is standing in the village of Maherado
and is worth-visiting visiting for its icon of Agia Mavra which
is considered miraculous and is surrounded by various offerings
among which is the valuable jewel offered to the church in honour
of the icon by the Queen Olga .Other fine icons and frescoes are
housed in Agia Mavra.
